It has been awhile since anything has been posted here….

As for today, I am happy to be sharing the latest activity done with the help of the amazing Design Loves Detail. Here is a link to the project. http://www.designlovesdetail.com/2014/02/06/dld-recipe-my-voodoo-valentine/

I am going to share with you the recipe that was used. There are lots of recipes that would work, this is just what I did.
Just because it isn’t Christmas, doesn’t mean you can’t have gingerbread cookies. I was worried that my regular gingerbread recipe would be too dark, since I wanted to see all the detail on the cookies. So….I made a yummy sugar cookie recipe and added some gingerbread cookie dough to make it a “sort of” gingerbread cookie. Turned out delicious!

Sugar Cookie (from my mom’s cookbook, if you know my mom, you know it’s a good one!)

2/3 Cup Crisco
3/4 Cup Sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla
1 egg
4 tsp milk
2 Cups Flour
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
Thoroughly cream crisco, sugar and vanilla. Add egg: beat till light and fluffy. Stir in milk. Add dry ingredients and blend well.

I then added about 1/4 of my gingerbread cookie dough to the mix. (I won’t be sharing that recipe at this time, can’t give away all my secrets!)

Chill for 1 hour
On lightly floured surface, roll to 1/8″ thick. Cut into desired shapes.
Bake at 350 for about 8 min. Cool and decorate.

This project was a lot of fun, especially with a little twist from the normal Valentines theme of hearts and love.
